Abstrak Corwin and Peltason's understanding the constitution has changed in a number of important ways since the first edition was published in 1949. The changes reflect the developments in the United States that have transformed the constitution. In 1949 the states had not yet approved the twenty-second amendment, which limits the president to two terms in office. the poll tax would not be constititionally proscribed by the twenty-fourth Amendment for another fifteen years, and it would be an additional seven years before the twenty-sixth Amendement recognized the right to vote for eighteen-year-old.
