Abstrak This book seeks to analyze two concepts - here fear and anciety - needs to start by differntiating them. In this book, fear is the moviation associated with a number of behaviours that normally occur on explosure to clearly threatening stimuly. Anxiety is the motivation associated with behaviours that occur to potential, signaled, or ambigous threat. both are often measured through the intensity or persistence of the behaviours with which they are associated, and may further be assessed by their ability to be conditioned to stimul assocated with these threats. These pattern are described, with attention to both adaptive and maladaptive component, and related to new understanding of neuroanatomic, neutrotransmitter, and genetic mechanisms.
