This book is organized into four parts, the field of policy studies, policy and politics in the United States, various spects of the policy cycle, evolution and the environment, and policy analysis is utilized by in and out of government. Part I considers how the field of policy studies, and policy and politics in the United States, have evolced in recent decades. Part II considers how research and thinking about various aspects of the policy cycle have changed in the past several years. Part III of the book examines the evolution and impact of three substantive areas of public policy in America - education, welfare, and the environment. Part IV begins by looking more closely at how and why policy analysis is utilized by those in and out of government.
