Abstrak | In recent years the International Law Reports has reproduced photographically the Englis language texts of decision of the international court of Justice. But the present volume is the first one in which the use of this tecnique is extended to cases from other courts. The decision to take this tsep has not been easily reaced. Itis dictated by consideration of economy- in relation to the costboth of the editorial process and of prudaction. Our main concern has been to ensure in this inflationary times the constinuation to our readersof the maximum provision of materials at the lowestreasonable cost. Thus, for the present volume our publishers are able to fix an initial selling price which is no higer thanthat for 15%large and that in the interval since the publications of volume 15 there has been a general increase in production cost. While, obviously, the pudlishers cannot maintain the same price indenfinitely, the impac of price rises can be reduced by the use of photographic methods wherevers possible. The are other features wich will effectifely comfetsate for the reductions in visual elegence associated with the apprearance of anumber of different type faces. One is that the reader will now have a more direc contact with the basic materials. Some years ago we declared our intention to maintain as far as is editorially possible the integrity of the original reports. The initial reflection of this policy in the form of fuller reprts is now carried a stage further by reproductions of original texts wich enable the readers to see that he is using a faithful copy of the original. Where matter is omitted, this is indicated ; where it is inserted, usually in the form of appropriate reverence to the International Law Reports, this too is clearly marked by the use of square brackets. |
