Abstrak The subject of this book is the ancient Indian systems: ancient Indian legal, judicial and constitutional systems (Vyavaharadharna and Rajadharma). The topics covered here are concept of law (Dharma) and its supremacy, substantive civil laws (excluding matters which are covered in the syllabus under Hindu law), and rules of interpretation, the objectives set before and purposes intended to be achieved by the state (king), the place and role of the judiciary, functions and responsibilities of the council of minister, taxation policy, foreign polivy, and organisations and administration of departments of government. A brief account of the pratical working of Rajadharma is also given, thus spanning a wide field under the ancient Indian legal system.
