| Abstrak | The book highlights the Islamic approach towards poverty elimination and the role played by some built in institutions of the Islamic system in this respect. Papers included in the volume point out that islamic institutions such as Zakah, elimination of Riba. Awqaf, takaful, irfaq, etc play an important role in reducing poverty level and improving income distribution. While each of these intitutions can make a significant contribution towards the goal of poverty elimination, the combined impact of all will be much greater than their additive impact. The book presents both theoretical and empirical evidence to highlight the role of these important institutional arrangements in poverty elimination. |
