Abstrak This book was developed partly from information presented at a symposium entitled "Interdiciplinary Approaches to Ecological Monitoring of Major Ecosystems Restoration Initiatives," held at the 1999 annual meeting of the Ecological Society of America in Spokane, Wash. However, the project's true origins stem from common interests in ecosystem nmonitoring identified in 1995, when we were involved in establishing monitoring plans for various aspects of a new water management regime for parts of the Florida Everglades.
