The study provides a unique comperative history of India and Pakistan labor politics. It begins in the early twentieth century, when permanent unions firs formed in the South Asian Subcontiment. Additionally, it offers an analysis of changes in conditions of work and term of service in India and Pakistan and of organized labor's response. Labor organizations that are based on labor right affect economic performance and political practices in desirable ways. Right-based labor organizaton strengthhen democrative goverment, public investment, and conversion of wealth into wellbeing.Organized workers help to ensure that benefits of growth are shared. Worker solidarity is essential for democracy and development.
