Examples of routine entrants include industrial workers who enter vessels and public employees who enter utility vaults. Rescuers include private sector rescue teams and public emergency services personnel who may be called on to perform confined space rescue. Entrants and rescuers face similar hazards and have interrelated training needs, making an approach that integrates confined space entry and confined space emergency response logical. In teaching confined space entry and rescue for number of years, we (the authors) never found a book that we believed adequately addressed the needs of both entrants and rescuers, so we wrote Confined Space Entry and Emergency Response. We believe that it meets the informationa and training needs of others as well.
