Child Growth and Development 08/09 is organized into five major units. Unit 1 includes articles regarding some exciting advances in fertility technology. Unit 2 present information regarding brain development, perception, memory and language in infants and young children, as well as information on schooling, literacy, and gender differences. Unit 3 focuses on sosial and emosional development, including peers, gender socialization, agreession, and bulying, while unit 4 is devoted to parenting and family issues such as discipline, sibling interactions, adoption, and gay and lesbian parents. Finally, unit 5 focuses on larger cultural and societal influences (ie.g., media and marketing, the effects of affluence on development, and child sexual abuse) and on special challenges (such as ADHD, autism, and abhorrent conditions four children living in very poor nations.
