Kershaw, scornful though he is of British policy-making, concludes that even a government seeking to appease Hitler could not entertain Londonderry's wish to befriend him. But Londonderry's stance also compels us to look afresh at the other options available. If befriending Hitler and embracing his ferocious world view were out of the question for a democratic country with humane values, anxious to preserve peace, Kershaw shows how little possibility there was of removing, containing or deterring him. In this light, he argues, we should rethink our understanding of British actions, the roles of Lord Londonderry, Neville Chamberlain and Winston Churchill, and the events than set Europe on the road to war. =650 4$$a Sejarah - Jerman =650 4$$a Hitler, Adolf =990 ##$$a 01493/MKRI-P/II-2005 =990 ##$$a 01493/MKRI-P/II-2005
