With the admission of Vietnam in 1995, its vision of an Asean 10 to reunite the rgioan came closer to realization. Despite many controversismarising over the next four years, Asean admitted Laos and Myanmar, and finally Cambodja as full members.During the past decade , Asean has shifted focus from political and military security to economic co-operation and development. Althought this change may ease the integation of the newer membe into Asean, thee remain significant challenges to forge a workable and united ten-member Asean.
