=520    $$a Great Books of the Western World is a series of books originally published in the United States in 1952 by Encyclopedia Britannica Inc. in an attempt to present the western canon in a single package of 54 volumes. The series is now in its second edition and contains 60 volumes. Volume 39 served the history, philosophy and works of Immanuel Kant an 18th-century German philosopher from Königsberg in the Kingdom of Prussia (now Kaliningrad, Russia). He is regarded as one of the most influential thinkers of modern Europe and of the late Enlightenment.
