<subfield code="a">This book is critically to assess the sugestion that one thing that may be done to head off such an eventuality is to enlarge the footprint of the three exiting arms control treaties restricting sate-level access to weapon of mass destruction, to cover sub-state actors. The book is devided into three sections. The first is general with a general chapter, and a detailed case study of Aum where the particular must stand for the general . The second deals with chemical and biological weapons together, but with the troubled process of updating the BWC never far off centre stage. and the third deals with nuclear weapons and less directly radiological weapons ( e.g. ' dirty bomb'), with a focus on the question of inspection, including a formal discussion of the process of inspection which in itself showns that extending the footprint even of the NPT is not a purely mechanical matter.</subfield>
